This stunningly beautiful 150ml teapot was hand-thrown in Chaozhou, the birthplace of gongfu tea, made of a beautiful swirling blend of local zhuni and hei jin gang clay from Yixing. While Yixing is too hard alone to be made on a wheel, the combination of Yixing with softer Chaozhou clay makes it throwable on a wheel, as is the traditional style in Chaozhou.
While this teapot can be used for any type of tea, Phoenix Mountain, home of the famed Phoenix Dancong wulongs, neighbors Chaozhou, so this clay, if for no other reason than geography, has been most traditionally used in the brewing of wulongs.
This pot was entirely handmade by artist Chen Donghua.
