This stunningly beautiful 140ml teapot was hand-thrown, made from local zhuni clay in Chaozhou, the birthplace of gongfu tea. The clay in Chaozhou is softer than that in Yixing, which allows potters to throw pots using a wheel, which differentiates them from Yixing/Zisha.
While this teapot can be used for any type of tea, Phoenix Mountain, home of the famed Phoenix Dancong wulongs, neighbors Chaozhou, so this clay, if for no other reason than geography, has been most traditionally used in the brewing of wulongs.
This pot was entirely handmade by artist Yu Haibiao.
