This tea has a subtle flavor, grassy and delicate. More notable than its flavor is its qi. It feels clear, serene, and grounded, and, to me, has a feeling of brightening the eyes/clearing the mental fog that obscures direct perception. A good tea for meditation, spring, summer, and hot or temperate days.
Despite the name, this is actually a green tea. Its name reflects the fact that it is made from the choicest tender golden bud leaves of this Anji varietal, picked early before the the temperature rises so much that they lose that vibrant gold. Standing in the fields of Golden Sprout feels like somebody brushed the tops of the tea bushes with a highlighter. The leaves are truly vibrant, as is the qi of the tea. It's flavor is smooth and delicate, reminiscent of the bamboo that grows in abundance throughout the region.
