Grown on the slopes of Phoenix Mountain in Southeast China, the wulongs produced in this region tend to be bold, floral, fruity, and woodsy. This particular dancong has dark, brownish black leaves the color of burnt wood. Dry, its leaves smell warming, like fresh baked bread and chocolate. Once brewed, it has a sweet, slightly tart, woodsy flavor, and slightly fruity flavor. It is stimulating yet grounding, with a smooth texture and a lingering sweetness. Take care in brewing this tea, as Phoenix Dancongs are sensitive in nature, and can become bitter if not properly attended to.
