This rock/cliff tea, naturally grown in the Wuyi Mountains, is well known for its smooth, rich flavor and a deep, orchid aroma.  It is particularly unusual in that it was developed through selective breeding of Tie Guanyin.  Despite this ancestry, the growing conditions and processing technique make this far more similar in style to the other rock teas than to its Tie Guanyin ancestors.

Dry, its leaves are dark, black, rusty red, and yellowish green, and carry a strong vegetal chlorophyll aroma, reminiscent of a Japanese green tea.  Wet, its smell is the quintessential smell of Wuyi, smelled as walks by tea shops roasting their tea.  This aroma is intoxicating, warming and honey-sweet.  It produces a smooth, rich brew that ranges from gold to crimson with a flavor that matches this aroma, containing elements of roasted chestnuts, oak, and cherry, as well as a hint of spicy sweetness reminiscent of fresh pink peppercorns.  It leaves a sweet, warm aftertaste in the mouth and throat.

Lasts 5-10 brews, depending on amount of leaf used.

Price is per 50 grams/1.76 ounces
