The trees that this tea comes from grow wild, without the use of pesticides, on the rich green slopes of the Yiwu Mountains, source of some of the best puer in the world. Based on its young age, this could either be considered a green, as it is quite drinkable now, or a puer, well-suited for aging.
It's leaves are long, black and seaweed green, with inner leaves covered in silver down. It's aroma is sharp, clean, bright, thick, and fruity. It has a full-bodied, clean, slightly nutty flavor with a buttery smooth sweetness that lingers on the throat. It is definitely a puer, with the astringency of younger raw puers that becomes more notable in later brews.
This tea feels enlivening and yet soothing, with beautifully intact leaves that carry the richness of the jungles that surround these trees in Yiwu Shan. While already delicious and ready to drink, this is a tea that will age phenomenally well.
