There is a saying about Fuding White Tea:

"One year tea, three years medicine, seven years treasure."

Thus, this tea has passed its treasure mark. It is absolutely phenomenal now, and, stored properly, will just get better with time.

This tea grows wild in the mountains near Fuding.  It is harvested and prepared by teamaster Zheng Lifei. This is the most famous region for growing white tea in the world, with a coastal climate that tends to produce white teas that are relatively sweet and bold in character.

Bai Mudan, or White Peony, is characterized by a mix of fuzzy inner bud leaves (silver needles) and more mature outer leaves.  Those with a higher proportion of silver needles are generally considered to be higher quality.  In this way, the quality of this tea is apparent at a glance, as consists primarily of these silver needles.

Dry, the leaves of this tea have a luscious, sweet smell, reminiscent of deep shades of purple and long grasses blowing in a summer breeze.  Wet, its smell is spicy and pristine.  It produces a smooth brew that is an earthy honey gold in color.  Its flavor is full and aromatic, grounding, distinctive, sweet, pure, and straightforward, with farmhouse elements reminiscent of the countryside.  The flavor of this tea is bold, yet uncluttered, and it leaves a pleasant sweetness on the sides of the tongue and throat.

Its qi is reminiscent of water and wind, with effects that are comforting and relaxing, yet cognitively stimulating, while seeming to open up the airways, particularly the nose.

Lasts about a dozen brews.
Price is per 50 grams/1.76 ounces
