Naturally grown without the use of pesticides by teamasters Wu Hua and Hu Ailian, Nine Dragon White, or Jiu Long Da Bai, is a less commonly found large-leaf tea bush varietal. This cake is perfect for those just getting into white tea, for connoisseurs, and for collectors. It is ready to drink and perfect for aging.
This tea has leaves ranging from vibrant green to black. Dry, its leaves have a light, angelic aroma, like a clean spring breeze. Wet, they smell like the Mongolian grasslands. Its aroma is robust and very slightly spicy, reminiscent of fields and the countryside. Its flavor is similar, field-forward, with a tartness reminiscent of golden raspberries, and a ringing sweetness that lingers in both the mouth and throat. This white is sweet, silky, and slightly dry. In effect, it is simultaneously stimulating and grounding, the caffeine in the leaves being offset by some of the tea's other components. Above all, it's effect is clearing, leaving one with a sense of both mental and respiratory clarity and freshness.
The qi of this tea feels related predominantly related to Earth and secondarily to Metal, synesthetically reminiscent of soothing, earthy tones.
Nine Dragons White, has great longevity, lasting up to a dozen brews, after which its leaves can be boiled for several more infusions, yielding a sweet, warming infusion, with a tartness reminiscent of plum.
Each cake consists of 350 grams.
