This tea is USDA certified organic, grown in concert with the Rainforest Alliance.  The fertilizer used is made form the husks of safflower and tung seeds, thus utilizing the waste products of other industries.

Tie Guanyin is Chinese for "Iron Bodhisattva of Compassion".  Wulongs are partially oxidized, meaning that they are partially bruised and then fired, which stops the oxidization process, sometimes leaving the leaves with a mottling of red and green that is reminiscent of iron.  This particular wulong was created after Guanyin, the Chinese bodhisattva of compassion and feminized evolution of Avalokiteshvara appeared in the dream of a tea farmer, and instructed him in how to make this tea.

Tie Guanyin can cover a good range.  Our aged Tie Guanyin, for instance, is a distinctly dark-roast, whereas this particular Tie Guanyin exemplifies the green wulong style Tie Guanyin that is generally preferred today.

This tea is bright, clean, and floral.  It's aroma is rich and vegetal, like a lush jungle rich with wildflowers.  This tea gentle, yet full of qi.  It produces a luminous golden brew, which matches its vibrant flavor, and leaves a fresh herbal flavor lingering on the palate.

Lasts about half a dozen brews.
