Hailing from Phoenix Mountain in southeastern China, Dancong ("Single Bush") wulongs are well-known for their full body, boasting a fruity, floral, complex, woodsy flavor, with a quintessential flavor that I have come to think of as "phoenix-like."

This tea has black leaves, streaked with neon yellow and hints of red.  Dry, its smell is warming, subtle, and slightly sweet.  Wet, its smell is deep, smooth, complex, foresty, and slightly floral.  As the leaves open up, more mottled green and red (characteristic of wulongs, particular of Dancongs) becomes visible.

This tea is hearty and robust, calm and focused, with a quintessential Phoenix flavor that lasts for several brews.  While this tea can be brewed after that point, the flavor can become either quite mild or bitter (depending on how you brew it), so, although this tea can be brewed far longer, its more desirable flavors will be achieved within the first five brews or so.
