This black is the perfect tea for a rainy or snowy day. This tea is grown in Wuyi, Zhejiang (not to be confused with the Wuyi Mountains in neighboring Fujian). It s leaves are small and delicate, curled into black hooks and loops with hints of red. Dry, it smells confectionery, rich and complex, spicy deep, and yet lively, reminiscent of mochi or sesame candy. Its wet smell is reminiscent of the sweetness of molasses or roasted barley. This tea is sweet and warming, and makes me think of relaxing by a fire in an overstuffed armchair on a cold winter day.
