This stunningly beautiful 140ml mixed-clay teapot was hand-thrown, made from local clay in Chaozhou, the birthplace of gongfu tea. The clay in Chaozhou is softer than that in Yixing, which allows potters to throw pots using a wheel, which differentiates them from Yixing/Zisha. This pot was entirely handmade by artist Chen Donghua. Since each pot is handmade, individual patterns with respect to the color blending will vary, and each will be unique.
While this teapot can be used for any type of tea, Phoenix Mountain, home of the famed Phoenix Dancong wulongs, neighbors Chaozhou, so this clay, if for no other reason than geography, has been most traditionally used in the brewing of wulongs.
